Description Yunona
Okra Yunona – a rare annual vegetable growing as a vine-like herb up to 1.7–2 m tall. The fruits are long green pods ranging from 6 to 30 cm in length, containing several ovaries weighing 10–30 g each. Young ovaries (3–6 days after formation) are edible and have a soft texture, while more mature ones become inedible.

This okra is valued for its rich set of beneficial substances: vitamins, minerals, and mucilaginous compounds that positively affect the digestive system. Thanks to these properties, it is often used in dietetic nutrition and for treating gastritis and other stomach disorders.

Growing okra Yunona requires support or a trellis, as the plant is a vine. Planting is done via seedling culture: seeds are sown at a temperature of about +25 °C, and transplanting is carried out at an age of 35–45 days. Plants are placed with a spacing of 30–40 cm within the row and no less than 60 cm between rows. Yield reaches approximately 3.7 kg/m², making the crop economically attractive for small plots.

Fruits can be consumed fresh – in salads, as well as prepared in various ways: boiled, stewed, fried, dried, frozen, or canned. With proper storage, young ovaries retain their taste and nutritional qualities, making okra Yunona a versatile ingredient for both everyday meals and therapeutic dishes.
