Gerbera BAYADERA

Premium cut flower production

The «Bayadera» gerbera, developed by the Subtropical Scientific Center of the RAS, is a specialized tool for greenhouse operators focused on high-quality floral production. Its primary value lies in its high plasticity: depending on growing conditions and specific agricultural protocols, the plant can produce stalks of varying lengths, allowing producers to align their crop with market demand.

Tailored growth for versatile applications

The most distinctive feature of «Bayadera» is its ability to adapt its height based on environmental controls and nutritional management. By modulating lighting and fertilizer regimes, agronomists can achieve plants ranging from 25 to 60 cm in height, enabling the same variety to be used for different market segments:

• Compact 25–35 cm forms suitable for high-demand potted arrangements.
• Mid-range 35–45 cm plants for retail display.
• Standard 45–60 cm stalks optimized for professional cut flower bouquets.

The large, 12–15 cm bloom diameter ensures a premium shelf appearance. The dense, durable petals maintain high standards of structural integrity, which is essential for wholesale logistics and long-distance transport.

Professional cultivation guidelines

To maximize the flower diameter up to 15 cm, it is crucial to maintain high light intensity and a strict nitrogen-potassium balance during the budding phase. «Bayadera» requires high-quality, well-draining substrates to ensure robust root health. In southern latitudes, the variety performs exceptionally well in year-round greenhouse production environments equipped with artificial supplementary lighting, consistently delivering high-quality, uniform output.
