Gerbera SOCHI

Technical Profile of the 'Sochi' Gerbera

The 'Sochi' variety is a product of the breeding efforts by the Federal Research Center 'Subtropical Scientific Center of the RAS'. This variety is engineered for high adaptability to both specific subtropical climate conditions and controlled greenhouse environments. Its biological potential allows for versatile application, spanning from commercial cut flower production to professional landscape design.

Morphological Parameters and Productivity

• Plant height: 25–60 cm. This range provides flexibility in application, allowing it to be used as both a potted plant and a cut flower.
• Flower diameter: 7–12 cm. A key commercial classification metric, positioning this variety within the large-flowered gerbera category.

A critical aspect of this breeding line is the equilibrium between stem length and bloom size. In greenhouse conditions, 'Sochi' demonstrates high structural stability, preventing stem deformation during transportation and ensuring durability in vase conditions. The genetic architecture of the variety supports a rapid regrowth rate after harvesting, which optimizes the turnover of production cycles.

Agrotechnical Specifications

The optimal temperature range to achieve maximum bloom diameter is 18–22°C. The variety requires stable light exposure; a deficiency in photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) leads to stem elongation and reduced petal pigmentation intensity. Nutrient management should prioritize potassium intake during the budding phase to ensure optimal structural rigidity of the inflorescence and depth of color.
