Aster Nadia

Peony-flowered Aesthetics: Why Growers Choose the "Nadiya" Aster

In the world of annual asters, the "Nadiya" variety stands out for its predictability and architectural precision. Developed by breeders at the Uman National University of Horticulture, this variety is the result of years of research aimed at adapting to the Ukrainian climate. While many imported hybrids require specialized greenhouse conditions, "Nadiya" exhibits high plasticity and performance in open-field cultivation.

Key Advantages and Technical Details

• Disease Resistance: The primary challenge for commercial aster growers is managing fusarium, septoria, and powdery mildew. This variety possesses natural immunity to these pathogens, significantly reducing the need for costly fungicide applications.
• Cut Flower Quality: With a stem height of 60–70 cm and a dense, peony-shaped flower structure measuring 8–10 cm in diameter, this variety is optimized for the commercial market. The robust petals ensure a long vase life.
• Growth Cycle: With a 100–110 day cycle from sowing to bloom, "Nadiya" allows farmers to plan staggered harvests for consistent market supply.

Who is this variety for?

"Nadiya" is an excellent solution for growers targeting local floral markets. Unlike small-flowered varieties, this cultivar provides the substantial, premium look required for high-end bouquets. Strength: Resilience and high marketability of the blooms. Weakness: As an annual, it is not frost-tolerant and requires diligent agricultural practices to achieve the full 10 cm flower diameter potential.
