Aster GAGARIN'S SMILE

A Legacy of Horticultural Breeding

The 'Smile of Gagarin' (Ulybka Gagarina) aster is a hallmark selection from the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Production. Spearheaded by Galina Viktorovna Ostryakova, this variety was engineered to meet the market's demand for high-stemmed, disease-resistant annuals. Unlike many other aster varieties susceptible to soil-borne pathogens, this cultivar is specifically noted for its strong resistance to fusarium wilt, making it a reliable choice for gardeners.

Technical Specifications and Aesthetics

• Flower Type: The plant produces large (10–15 cm) blossoms with a hybrid peony-pompon form, ensuring a dense, decorative appearance.
• Height Profile: With a stem height ranging from 50 to 80 cm, this cultivar is perfectly suited for professional flower production.
• Color Palette: A delicate pink hue that maintains its vibrancy throughout the blooming season.

Designed for both commercial floriculture and home garden borders, the 'Smile of Gagarin' excels in cut-flower applications due to its stiff, upright stems and excellent vase life. Being an annual variety, it does not survive winter, requiring a fresh seasonal planting cycle. By choosing this variety, growers benefit from a well-established breeding lineage that balances robust physical growth with a striking visual impact.
