Tulip Generaal de Wet

Practical Utility of General de Wet Tulips

General de Wet is a classic, reliable variety primarily utilized for mid-season forcing and open-field production. As a member of the Single Early tulip class, it is highly valued by growers for its uniformity and strong, professional-grade performance during the peak spring sales window.

Cultivation Strategy

• Forcing Efficiency: The variety is known for its excellent root development and consistent growth rates. Its medium height is ideal for greenhouse management, as the stems are sturdy enough to avoid the need for structural support.
• Market Appeal: The vibrant orange petals, often featuring subtle red accents, provide high aesthetic value. The bloom responds vividly to temperature changes, opening wide under optimal light conditions, which makes it a standout choice for fresh-cut bouquets.
• Operational Resilience: General de Wet handles the fluctuations of spring temperatures well. In an agricultural setting, this reliability minimizes the risks associated with early-season production cycles.

For commercial success, ensure well-drained soil conditions and consistent moisture control. The variety’s predictable harvest timing helps managers streamline labor operations, making it a staple for farms looking to maximize yields early in the season.
