The "Vologda Lace" aster variety is an annual plant with a narrow, sturdy, bouquet-shaped bush reaching a height of up to 75 cm. The inflorescences are double, come in various colors, and are large with a diameter of 10-11 cm, making this variety attractive for decorative use and cutting. The plant has sturdy stems and dense foliage, which promotes abundant and prolonged flowering.
For successful cultivation of "Vologda Lace" asters, it is recommended to choose well-lit areas with fertile loamy or sandy loam soil. The plant tolerates frosts down to -3-4 °C well, allowing for seedling cultivation with sowing in March-April. Seedlings are pricked out when the first pair of true leaves appears and are planted in open ground from mid-May to early June. Winter sowing in late October followed by mulching is also possible, which hardens the plants and ensures their resistance to adverse conditions.
The variety is characterized by high yield and dense foliage, making it undemanding and easy to grow. Flowering lasts about 73 days, and the plants have moderate resistance to adverse weather conditions and some resistance to fusarium. Thanks to these qualities, the aster "Vologda Lace" is widely used for garden decoration and obtaining cut flowers.
