Aster Eva

NBS Gryshko Selection: Technical Overview of the "Eva" Aster

The "Eva" aster is a prime example of elite Ukrainian botanical breeding. Developed at the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden, this variety is engineered for structural integrity. Reaching a height of 50–80 cm, the plant maintains a rigorous vertical posture, which is essential for professional-grade cut flower production, preventing the stems from lodging.

Flower Morphology and Development

The core feature of this variety is its semi-spherical bloom, measuring 10–15 cm in diameter. The density of the petals not only contributes to the impressive visual volume but also significantly extends the vase life of the cut flower. The distinct deep blue pigmentation is a signature trait of this specific breeding line, offering high color stability throughout the flowering stage. As an annual, the plant focuses its metabolic energy on a single, high-intensity flowering cycle.

Practical Implementation and Utility

• Floral Industry: The specific stem-to-bloom ratio makes "Eva" an ideal candidate for commercial bouquets, requiring minimal auxiliary support.
• Container Gardening: The variety's habit is well-suited for pot culture, providing a robust focal point for patios and commercial displays.
• Landscaping: The height makes it perfect for mid-ground bedding, where it provides structural height and intense color.

By selecting the "Eva" variety, growers gain access to refined genetics that prioritize stem resilience, bloom size, and aesthetic consistency, ensuring a high-performance crop for the entire season.
