Aster Knyaginya

Commercial Cut-Flower Performance: The 'Knyahynia' Aster

Developed by the Institute of Horticulture of NAAS, the 'Knyahynia' variety is a specialized choice for cut-flower production. In the field, this cultivar stands out due to its impressive height of 80–100 cm, which is critical for achieving the stem length required by professional florists. The semi-spherical, 10–15 cm pink blooms provide a consistent, high-quality aesthetic that fits perfectly into commercial floral arrangements.

Operational Applications and Field Management

• Market-Oriented Cultivation: The variety is bred for durability and uniformity, making it ideal for large-scale cut-flower operations. The sturdy stems reduce the need for excessive staking while maintaining a professional appearance during transport.
• Landscaping and Ornamental Design: Beyond commercial production, 'Knyahynia' is highly effective for public garden displays, border planting, and formal beds. Its vertical, non-spreading habit allows for precise planting designs.
• Crop Cycle Management: As an annual plant that does not overwinter, it fits perfectly into intensive rotation schedules, allowing for full post-harvest soil sanitation before the next season.

For growers targeting premium output, the 'Knyahynia' aster responds best to consistent hydration and a balanced fertilization program to ensure the 15 cm flower diameter is reached reliably. This Ukrainian variety is an excellent selection for those looking for a predictable, high-performing crop that meets the rigorous demands of the florist market.
