Astra Blue Dalis is an annual plant growing to about 60 cm high, belonging to the Duchess sortotype. The bush has a columnar shape, on which 7-8 semi-spherical inflorescences of silvery-blue color with a diameter of 8-9 cm bloom. The flowers are distinguished by an attractive shade and large size, which makes the plant in demand for the decorative landscaping of garden plots and use in floristry.
For successful cultivation, astras prefer well-lit areas with fertile loam or loamy soil. Seeds are sown in March-April, after which seedlings are transplanted with the development of the first pair of true leaves according to a 5x5 cm scheme. Seedlings are transplanted into open ground from the middle of May to the beginning of June. Winter sowing is also possible at the end of October at a depth of 5-8 cm with subsequent mulching with peat or sawdust, which promotes early and uniform flowering.
The variety is characterized by an early flowering period – the first flowers appear on the 76th day after germination. Thanks to its decorative qualities and ease of cultivation, the Blue Dalis aster is widely used in landscape design and floristry, allowing to create bright and effective floral compositions.
