Grolim is the result of the work of the Dutch company Asparagus Beheer B.V., which specializes in creating high-yielding asparagus hybrids. Registered in 2017, this F1 hybrid quickly occupied a niche as a premium product for commercial cultivation. Its genetics are focused on stability: unlike open-pollinated varieties, Grolim demonstrates high uniformity of shoots, which is critical for the marketability of the product.

Adaptation and agro-climatic potential

The hybrid is officially registered for all key agro-climatic zones, including Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissya. Such a wide range of use confirms the plasticity of the crop. Grolim successfully adapts to various soil and climatic conditions while maintaining its varietal characteristics: thick, uniform shoots with tight heads that are not prone to premature opening.

Technological features and productivity

The key advantage of Grolim is its male flowering type. This means the plant does not waste energy on seed formation, directing all resources into the development of a powerful root system and the formation of marketable shoots. In field conditions, this results in consistently high yields.

• Crop quality: white shoots, uniform, with tight heads.
• Resistance: high genetic immunity to rust and fusarium, which reduces the need for fungicide treatments.
• Planting: recommended density is 4–5 plants per linear meter.

Morphologically, the variety is distinguished by dark foliage and moderate phylloclade density. The stems are characterized by significant length to the first branching and a pronounced thickness above the soil surface, making Grolim a favorite among professional asparagus growers focused on export and high-quality domestic markets.
