The Nadzheina apple tree is a late-winter variety developed at the Institute of Pomology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus by crossing form VM41497 with the Anтей variety. It is a medium-sized tree with a dense, compact, and rounded crown, fast-growing, and resistant to unfavorable conditions. The crown is characterized by straight branches located at an angle close to 90 degrees, with upward-pointing ends. Leaves are of medium size, dark green and glossy, with delicate venation and weak pubescence. Flowers are pinkish, of medium size, with a light aroma. The apple tree begins to bear fruit early—already in the 2nd-4th year after planting, especially when using clonal dwarf and semi-dwarf rootstocks. Fruiting is regular, predominantly ring-bearing, with high yield and stability.
Fruits of the Nadzheina variety have an average weight of about 200 grams, a rounded, slightly flattened shape with a smooth, dense, and thin skin covered with a weak waxy bloom. The main skin color during marketable maturity is green with a brownish-red blush, which becomes dull red at consumer maturity. The flesh is greenish, of medium density, juicy and tender, with a pleasant sweet-sour taste and a light aroma. The tasting score of the fruits is 4.1 points. The chemical composition is characterized by a content of soluble dry matter of 12.6%, sugars of 10.3%, titratable acids of 0.59%, and ascorbic acid of 2.3 mg per 100 g. The harvest is collected in early October, while consumer maturity occurs in January, while the fruits can be stored until the end of March—early April, maintaining their market qualities and practically not shedding.
The Nadzheina variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and immunity to scab due to the presence of the Rvi6 gene, which makes it resistant to spring frosts and diseases. The apple tree is unpretentious in care and well suited for growing in private gardens, as well as adapted for Belarus and various regions of Russia, including western, southwestern, southern, and the middle belt. Due to its qualities and stable fruiting, this variety is an excellent choice for those who value reliability, long-term storage, and high-quality winter apples.
