HOPE'S JOY

The 'Hope's Joy' apple variety is a late-summer variety created at the All-Russian Research Institute for Fruit Breeding. The trees are of medium size, fast-growing, with a medium-density rounded crown and branches diverging from the trunk at an acute angle. The root system is powerful, with roots penetrating up to 5 meters deep, ensuring good stability and nutrition for the plant. The leaves are medium-sized, elongated, green with a yellowish tint, matte, and have a smooth surface.

The fruits of this variety have an average mass of about 150 grams, are flat-rounded, slightly ribbed towards the top, and slightly oblique. The skin is smooth and shiny, with a base color changing from greenish at the time of harvest maturity to golden-green during the consumer maturity period. The covering color is represented by dark red stripes and a blurred blush. The flesh is white with a greenish tint, tender, juicy, and tart-sweet in taste. The chemical composition of the fruits includes about 10.7% sugars, 0.64-0.76% titratable acids, and 4.9 mg/100 g of ascorbic acid.

The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and resistance to scab, exceeding the control variety Melba in this indicator. The yield averages 16.6 tons per hectare on dwarf rootstock, and fruiting is not strongly periodic. Harvest maturity occurs at the end of August, and the consumer period lasts until the end of November. Due to its market and taste qualities, as well as adaptation to the climate of the Central-Black Earth region, 'Hope's Joy' is recommended for cultivation in the Oryol region and other regions with suitable conditions.
