Beisug is a technical grape variety developed for the production of high-quality white table wines and brandies. It is characterized by a late ripening period and vigorous bushes with large, strongly dissected five-lobed leaves. The clusters are medium-sized, cylindro-conical, and dense, while the berries are round, white or olive-yellowish in color with a thick pruina coating. The berry pulp is juicy and free from foreign flavors, which contributes to obtaining a clean wine taste.
The variety is distinguished by good drought resistance and medium-level resistance to fungal diseases, however it requires preventive fungicide treatments, especially against mildew and oidium. Frost resistance of the variety reaches approximately -22 °C, which allows growing it in regions with a moderately cold climate. The vegetative period of Beisug is late, and the vine growth force is high, with a large number of suckers per season.
The yield of the variety is quite high — from 9 to 11 kg of berries per bush can be obtained, and the average yield is about 97 centners per hectare. The sugar content of the berry juice is within 18-19 g/100 cm³, and acidity — 8-9 g/dm³, which makes this variety particularly attractive for winemakers seeking to create quality white wines with a good taste and aroma balance.
