Apple Kizuri

Yield Stability and Storage Potential

For a professional grower, selecting a variety is always a balance between yield and logistics. The winter apple variety "Kizuri," developed by the Belgian breeding company Better3Fruit N.V., targets the market segment where fruit storability is critical. When maintained under proper storage temperatures, these apples retain their marketability for 6–7 months, allowing farmers to manage sales flexibly and avoid the pressure of market price drops during peak harvest times.

Cultivation Experience and Variety Management

Working with Better3Fruit genetics, it is clear that the focus is on technological efficiency. The "Kizuri" variety requires standard agrotechnical support typical for intensive orchards. Maintaining the plantations does not present unforeseen challenges: the predictable growth dynamics and clear tree architecture simplify routine pruning and spraying. For the operator, this translates into lower labor costs for canopy management and the ability to accurately forecast growth phases.

• Extended sales window: 6–7 months of shelf life allow for strategic planning through late spring.
• Reliable genetic potential: Better3Fruit N.V. selection ensures high fruit uniformity, which significantly streamlines sorting and pre-sale processing.
• Predictability: The variety demonstrates stability in characteristics, which is essential when dealing with retail chains that demand strict quality standards.

Investing in this variety is justified for operations equipped with long-term storage facilities. "Kizuri" fulfills the demand for a high-quality late-season product, maintaining flesh firmness and flavor profile throughout the entire storage cycle.
