VLASTELIN

Amaranth, or щирица, represents a genus of predominantly annual herbaceous plants with small flowers gathered in dense spike-like panicles. This ancient grain is known for its rich history and symbolic significance, embodying immortality, faith, loyalty, and constancy in love. Amaranth is one of the oldest crops cultivated by humans, with a history spanning over 8000 years, starting with the Inca civilization.

There are about fifty varieties of amaranth, including such species as tailflower amaranth, royal feather, amaranth with multicolored leaves, spherical amaranth, and others. In ancient cultures, amaranth held important ritual significance: Aztecs considered it the flower of immortality and dedicated it to the goddess Artemis, while in China its flowers were used in symbolic ceremonies at the Mid-Autumn Festival. Despite attempts to eradicate amaranth by Spanish conquistadors, it has retained its significance and continues to be used in various cultures.
