Dalzellia
Dalzellia is a genus of flowering plants that belongs to the family Podostemaceae. These plants are scientifically recognized as rheophytes, as they are specifically adapted to grow in fast-flowing water streams, clinging to submerged rocks and boulders.

Dalzellia
The distribution of Dalzellia is limited to the tropical regions of Asia, primarily found in the river systems of the Indian subcontinent and Sri Lanka. These areas are characterized by intense seasonal fluctuations in water level due to monsoon rains.
Botanically, the plant exhibits a simplified structure that lacks true roots. Instead, it utilizes a specialized thallus-like structure to anchor itself firmly to the rocky substrate. This allows the plant to resist the shearing forces of strong river currents that would displace most other vegetation.
Environmental requirements for Dalzellia are extremely specific. The species requires water with a high dissolved oxygen content and high light intensity to support its photosynthetic processes in the splash zones of waterfalls or rapids.
Although they belong to the botanical group of plants, Dalzellia species are not considered agricultural crops. Their complex ecological dependencies and requirement for moving, oxygen-rich water make them impossible to cultivate in controlled greenhouse or agricultural settings without highly specialized equipment.
