Adult insects are small, typically measuring 3 to 5 millimeters in length. Their body structure is slender and wasp-like, often dark in color with a metallic sheen, which makes them difficult to spot against the foliage.

The lifecycle of this pest is specialized, with larvae developing exclusively inside the seeds of the host fruit. This hidden development allows them to escape many common environmental stressors.

The female wasp uses her ovipositor to penetrate the young, developing fruit and lays her eggs inside the seeds. This process ensures the larvae have an immediate food supply upon hatching.

Pupation occurs within the seed cavity. Once the adult wasp reaches maturity, it bores a characteristic circular exit hole through the fruit wall to emerge, marking the completion of its developmental cycle.
