Wheat Kolomak 3

The Strength of Poltava Selection

The winter wheat variety "Kolomak 3" is a product of extensive breeding research by the Poltava State Agrarian Academy, designed to withstand the volatile climatic conditions of the Ukrainian steppe and forest-steppe zones. It has earned a reputation as a reliable, robust variety for farmers seeking consistent yields without the high maintenance required by intensive, non-native hybrids.

Technical Specifications

Kolomak 3 is an awned variety that exhibits exceptional lodging resistance—a critical trait for managing crops in regions prone to heavy winds and rainfall. Its plant height ranges from 70 to 100 cm, balancing biomass production with grain yield.

• Vegetation cycle: The 260–290 day growth period ensures the variety makes efficient use of early-season moisture.
• Kernel weight: With a thousand-kernel weight of 40–45 grams, it produces high-quality, plump grain.
• Disease resistance: Inherited resistance to leaf rust, fusarium, and powdery mildew significantly reduces the dependency on frequent fungicidal applications.

Market Positioning

With a potential yield of 4–6 tons per hectare, Kolomak 3 sits firmly in the reliable workhorse category of wheat. It is a time-tested variety that rewards standard, well-managed agrotechnology with stable outputs. This is an ideal choice for producers who prioritize cost-efficiency and field safety over high-risk, high-input varieties. By selecting Kolomak 3, farmers are investing in a proven genetic line that delivers consistent performance while maintaining low operational risk.
