Weigela 'Raspberry Bell' is a decorative shrub from the family Cornelian cherry family, reaching a height of up to 1.5 m and a width of approximately the same size. The bush has a spreading crown with serrated petiolate leaves covered in fuzz, giving the plant a delicate appearance. Flowers are funnel-shaped, colored raspberry-pink with a bright yellow throat, and bloom on the current year's shoots, creating a continuous summer decoration from May to September.
The shrub is distinguished by its high decorative quality and drought resistance. It prefers bright places, light, fertile soil with a neutral reaction, but can grow both in open ground and in containers. Regular watering is necessary during dry periods, while nitrogen fertilization in March and phosphorus-potassium fertilizers in May-June promote abundant flowering. At the end of the year, it is useful to add wood ash to improve the soil structure.
To maintain the shape and health of the plant, sanitary and formative pruning is recommended after flowering ends, as well as timely elimination of pests (caterpillars, aphids, thrips, spider mites) and diseases (gray mold, rust, leaf spotting). At the first signs of infection, insecticides and fungicides should be applied. Propagation is possible by cuttings or seeds; in seed propagation, parental characteristics are preserved. Thanks to frost hardiness (sheltering is recommended in harsh winters) and long flowering, 'Raspberry Bell' becomes an excellent choice for decorating borders, home plots, and flower beds.
