Watermelon LIBERALITY

Compact Watermelon for Efficient Logistics

The «Shchedrost» variety, developed by the FGBNU Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing, is designed for farms targeting the portion-sized watermelon segment. The primary value of this variety lies in harvest predictability and sales convenience: fruits weighing from 1.5 to 5 kg are perfectly suited for retail, where consumers prefer a whole fruit that fits easily into a standard shopping bag.

Agrotechnical Features and Planning

In field conditions, «Shchedrost» demonstrates excellent results when following standard cultivation practices for melons. The round shape of the fruit minimizes damage during transportation and storage, which is critical for long-distance logistics. The red flesh has a dense structure, reducing losses during handling and loading.

• Optimal weight: The variety allows for flexible harvesting schedules, yielding both compact fruits (1.5–3 kg) for individual sales and medium-sized ones (3–5 kg).
• Sales: An ideal choice for farmers' markets and retail chains, where there is a high demand for a product designed for one or two servings.
• Storage: The firm rind ensures good shelf life, allowing for an extended sales window after the main harvest.

Choosing this variety is justified for farms focusing on quick inventory turnover and consumer convenience. «Shchedrost» does not require highly specific agrotechnologies, adapting well to various growing conditions while ensuring stable market output provided that irrigation and fertilization regimes are maintained.
