Description Peskovatskaya
This variety was developed at the Dubovsky Experimental Station of the N.V. Korneev and L.K. Zhukova at the NIIHS by planting seeds of the Zhukovskaya variety from open pollination. It was introduced into the State Register in 1993 for the Nizhnevolsky region.
Trees of medium growth vigor. At 10 years old, they reach a height of 2.5 m, crown diameter of 2.5 m. The crown is sparse, round, raised. Main branches are curved, medium-thick from the trunk at an angle close to straight. Bark on the trunk and skeletal branches is flaking. Buds are large, sparsely arranged. Shoots are curved, smooth, medium, reddish-brown, without hairs. Internode length is 30-35 mm. Buds are single, medium, conical, brown. Positioned relatively to the shoot at a 45° angle. Fruit set is mixed — on flower clusters and one-year shoots. Leaves are broadly egg-shaped, medium, green. Edges are wavy, serrated. Leaf blade is smooth, matte, without hairs, concave, curved downward, base rounded, apex sharply transitions to a pointed tip. Leaf petiole is medium, green. Stipules on the petiole are small, 2 per leaf, round. Flowers are small, bell-shaped, white, in fruit buds 4, sometimes 5, 3, 2.
Fruits are large (average weight 4.4 g), round, red. Peduncle is medium in length and thickness, bare, attached to the ripe fruit moderately. Flesh is red, fibrous, tender, very juicy, slightly acidic-sweet, excellent taste. Juice is red. Taste evaluation score is 4.4 points. Stone separates well from flesh, yellowish, medium or large, egg-shaped. Universal use. Fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, compotes, jams. Compotes are rated 4.5 points. Fruits contain 13.06% dry matter, 7.8% sugars, 1.33% acids, 17.66 mg/100g ascorbic acid.
Trees begin fruiting in the 3rd-4th year after planting in the orchard. Fruits ripen in the third decade of June. The variety is partially self-fertile. Best pollinators — Lyubskaya, Rastunyaya. It is distinguished by high yield. Average yield over six years for 8-13-year-old trees with a spacing of 5 x 2 m amounted to 87.0 centners/ha. Winter hardiness is high. No damage to above-ground parts was observed, except for fruit buds. No disease infections were observed.
Advantages of the variety: good fruit taste, high yield, and good winter hardiness.
