Description Orcholia
This variety was obtained by selection from seedlings of open-pollinated 'Zhukovskaya'. Originator — All-Russian Research Institute of Fruit Crop Selection. Authors: A.F. Kolesnikova, T.S. Zvyagina, G.B. Zhданova. Tested in state trials since 1972. Approved for Ukraine.
Tree of medium growth vigor, about 3 m tall, with a rounded, slightly raised crown of medium density. Shoots are medium, straight, brown. Bark on trunk and main branches is gray. Buds are egg-shaped, medium-sized, strongly deviated from the shoots. Leaves are inversely egg-shaped, dark green. Apex is acuminate, base is acute, leaf margin is doubly toothed. Leaf blade surface is matte, curved along the central vein. Stipules 2-3, located at the base of the leaf blade and on the petiole. Petiole 17 mm long, 1.3 mm thick, with anthocyanic coloration on 3/4 of its length. Number of flowers in inflorescence is 5. Corolla diameter 17.7 mm, saucer-shaped, open. Petals white, freely arranged. Stigma is positioned below the stamens. Stigma length 6.8 mm, stamen length 10.1 mm. Calyx shape is narrow-bowl-shaped, with strongly toothed sepals. Fruit set on cluster branches.
Fruits weigh 4.2 g, oval, height 22.0 mm, thickness 16.0 mm. Fruit depression is medium, apex is depressed. Fruits are nearly black. Flesh is dark red, medium density, juice dark red. Pedicel length 30 mm, medium thickness. Stone is oval, weight 0.2 g, which constitutes 5% of fruit weight, yellow. Apex and base are rounded. Stone separates easily from flesh. Fresh fruit taste rating up to 4.0 points. Fruit detachment from pedicel is medium. Variety is for technical use. Fruits contain 15.2% soluble solids, 9.9% sugars, 1.43% acids.
Flowering at medium time (May 12-15). Fruit ripening at medium time (July 12-20). Begins fruiting at age 5. Partially self-fertile. Average yield 70.6 centners/ha, maximum 99.9 centners/ha. Winter hardiness of tree and flower buds is medium. Relatively resistant to coccomycosis.
Advantages: winter hardiness, high technological quality of fruits.
Disadvantages: fruits are for technical use.
