Description Odessa Muscat
Odessa Muscat grape is a wine variety with early-mid season ripening, having a vegetative period of about 130-140 days, corresponding to the end of September. This variety was developed by Ukrainian breeders by crossing the Amur Muscat 'Early Blue' and the European 'Pierrel'. The vines have medium vigor, and one cane can produce 2-3 clusters, ensuring a yield of 4 to 6 kilograms per vine. The clusters are medium-sized, cylindrical-conical, often with wings, weighing 130 to 190 grams. The berries are round, medium-sized (about 14.2 x 13 mm), with thin but firm skins and slightly mucilaginous flesh, colored yellow-green, reaching amber ripeness.

The grape's flavor is harmonious, with a pronounced muscat aroma, making it especially valuable for producing dessert wines and premium-quality juices. The sugar content of the berries varies from 18.6 to 22%, and acidity ranges from 5.5 to 8.7 g/l, contributing to balanced and aromatic beverages. The variety has good cane maturation, with fruiting canes reaching 80-87%, and pruning load for fruiting vines is 30-35 buds.

One of the significant advantages of Odessa Muscat is its high frost resistance — the variety can withstand temperatures down to -24…-25°С. Additionally, it exhibits resistance to major fungal diseases: mildew (2.5 points) and oidium (2 points). Thanks to these qualities and its flavor profile, this grape is widely used for producing white table and dessert wines, muscat sparkling wines, as well as premium-quality juices.
