Vegetable Pea REINER

Genetic Potential and Adaptability

The 'Rainier' pea variety by the German seed producer Van Waveren Saaten is a high-yielding vegetable pea designed for early and uniform harvest cycles. Its key strength lies in its balanced vegetation period, ranging from 50 to 70 days, allowing agronomists to optimize sowing schedules for continuous production workflows.

Pod Morphology: Focus on Marketability

From a technical standpoint, 'Rainier' displays excellent commercial qualities. A pod length of 7–8 cm, combined with a characteristic blunt tip, ensures optimal grain filling and ease of mechanical harvesting. The robust structure of the pod walls prevents damage during transit, which is essential for fresh-market distribution.

Phytosanitary Resistance

Van Waveren Saaten's breeding focus is on minimizing agricultural risks. 'Rainier' incorporates strong genetic resistance to primary pea pathogens:

• Fusarium Wilt: The variety shows high tolerance to soil-borne fungi, preventing crop lodging and premature plant wilting.
• Powdery Mildew: The resistance barrier ensures that the leaf surface area remains functional throughout the ripening period, which directly enhances seed filling and quality.

These agronomic traits position 'Rainier' as a reliable choice for professional vegetable farming, reducing the necessity for intensive chemical protection and supporting high-quality yield standards.
