Tulip Tambour Maître

Technical Potential of Tambour Maître

The «Tambour Maître» tulip belongs to the Triumph class, which dictates its morphological architecture: a robust, upright stem and a classic goblet-shaped bud. This selection is engineered for commercial production, where resistance to pathogens and a predictable vegetative period are paramount.

Phytosanitary Profile and Resistance

The key engineering advantage of this hybrid is its pronounced immune resistance to a complex of fungal diseases. Under field conditions, the variety demonstrates a high resistance threshold against the following pathogens:

• Verticillium: blocks fungal penetration into the vascular system, preserving stem turgor.
• Peronospora (Downy Mildew): a dense leaf cuticle inhibits zoospore germination under high humidity.
• Phomopsis and Phoma: the variety effectively suppresses necrosis development, reducing the need for post-harvest bulb fungicidal treatments.

Agronomic Specifications

The late flowering window allows for optimized logistics management at the end of the season. The high stems of «Tambour Maître» ensure excellent cut flower yields with minimal culling rates. The intense red color of the petals is due to a high concentration of anthocyanins, providing color saturation even during temperature fluctuations during budding. The stable geometry of the goblet allows the flower to maintain its commercial appearance throughout its life cycle in a vase.
