Tulip Markant

Operational efficiency of the Markant tulip

For professional growers, the Markant variety (Triumph class) serves as a benchmark for production reliability. This variety simplifies the entire growth cycle, from planting in the open field to harvesting, thanks to its uniform medium height and robust stalk structure, which is compatible with standard harvesting equipment.

Disease resistance and field management

The primary advantage for the farm operator is the variety's internal resistance to common pathogens. This significantly reduces the need for aggressive chemical treatments and labor-intensive maintenance. Key benefits include:

• Strong resistance to Sclerotinia;
• High immunity to Peronospora (downy mildew);
• Robust protection against Phomopsis and Phoma, which prevents bulb rot during storage.

These traits ensure a high percentage of saleable stems, directly impacting the final margins of your operation. The crop behaves predictably under varying field conditions, allowing for precise scheduling of labor.

Market quality and storage

The Markant’s aesthetic appeal — a striking combination of red and white petals — makes it a high-demand item in the mid-season market. Beyond its visual impact, the variety demonstrates excellent shelf-life, maintaining its structural integrity during transportation and storage in cool rooms. This reduces losses and improves the overall efficiency of your distribution chain. Choosing this variety is a low-risk strategy for growers looking to balance production stability with consistent aesthetic quality.
