Tulip Lucas van Leyden

The Genetic Architecture of 'Lucas van Leyden': Resilience and Morphology

The 'Lucas van Leyden' Triumph tulip is a product of focused breeding, designed to marry the aesthetics of a large, high-quality flower with robust field performance. Technically, this variety falls under the mid-season hybrid category, allowing for a strategic adjustment of spring flowering cycles in commercial production environments.

Biological Engineering Solutions

• Pathogen Resistance: The genetic makeup of this variety includes built-in resistance to a complex of soil-borne pathogens, specifically black leg and scab. The inclusion of defense mechanisms against Phytophthora minimizes loss risks during periods of high soil moisture, while its resistance to the potato cyst nematode ensures consistent yields even in fields with high pathogen pressure.
• Morphological Parameters: The tall, sturdy stem provides superior structural integrity, essential for preventing lodging under wind exposure. The Triumph class classification guarantees the development of a classic goblet-shaped flower with high petal rigidity, maintaining structural integrity across varying temperature gradients.

Visual Profile

The color palette of the petals is defined by a soft transition between white and pink tones. This pigmentation pattern is governed by stable anthocyanin concentrations that persist throughout the entire flowering cycle. High cut-flower productivity and excellent forcing capabilities make this variety a versatile asset for both large-scale landscape design and professional floral production.
