Tulip Glasnost

Glasnost Tulips: The Professional Choice

The 'Glasnost' tulip is a distinguished representative of the Parrot group, which has secured a strong position in both professional forcing businesses and premium landscape design. Originating from Dutch breeding programs, it was developed to combine the exotic, ruffled texture of parrot tulips with robust physical endurance.

Agronomic Profile and Disease Resistance

Unlike many ornamental varieties, this hybrid exhibits remarkable resistance to various pathogens. Under intensive production conditions, 'Glasnost' demonstrates high tolerance to:

• Root rot and Fusarium — critical factors for greenhouse longevity;
• Brown rust and Septoria;
• Powdery mildew, significantly reducing the need for heavy fungicide applications.

Visual Appeal and Market Utility

Categorized as a mid-season flowering tulip, 'Glasnost' is defined by its intricately fringed and twisted petals that mimic the plumage of tropical birds. Its color palette is a sophisticated blend of intense red and lilac tones. Given its medium height, the plant is versatile, serving equally well in front-border garden displays and as a reliable cut flower.

Commercial growers value 'Glasnost' for its bulb consistency and stalk stability, which are essential for post-harvest logistics. The variety offers an 'exclusive' aesthetic look that performs well above its market price point, making it a highly profitable choice for those looking to balance high decorative value with ease of cultivation.
