VIVAT GATENBERGER

VIVAT GATENBERGER is a medium-height Japanese iris, reaching 90–110 cm in plant height and 70–110 cm in inflorescence height. Its double form is expressed in a pink-lilac shade: under bright light the flower looks almost pink, while in the shade it acquires a more saturated lilac tone. Dark veins are present on the divisions, which contrast with the white stigma lobes, outlined by a border of the division color.

The plant has long, narrow leaves of medium thickness, colored deep green. The inflorescences are numerous, thin, and branched; each bears 2–3 flowers that bloom simultaneously. Flower dimensions are a vertical diameter of 5–6 cm and a horizontal one of 15–17 cm. The six-petaled bud has a bright purple outer perianth with a clear central vein and a flame-shaped yellow spot surrounded by a light purple halo.

The variety is characterized by high heat tolerance, hardiness, and resistance to diseases and pests. The flowering period is 12–14 days, making it attractive for garden compositions and decorative greening in temperate climates.
