Tulip Orange Favourite

Architecture of the Orange Favourite Flower

As a member of the parrot tulip group, Orange Favourite exhibits a complex biological architecture. The defining feature is the irregular, deeply fringed perianth segments that mimic exotic plumage. From a physiological perspective, this is the result of localized growth variations at the petal margins, which create a highly textured, ruffled surface that reflects light differently than standard cup-shaped tulips.

Technical Specifications for Cultivation

• Flowering Cycle: Classified as a late-blooming variety. Its development peaks at the end of the tulip season, providing a functional solution for extending the bloom display after earlier cultivars have entered dormancy.
• Stem Mechanics: The plant maintains a medium height with a rigid, sturdy stem structure. This ensures the tulip can support the significant surface area and weight of the fully expanded bloom without requiring physical staking.
• Pigmentation: The vibrant orange hue is derived from high carotenoid concentrations, while the characteristic green streaks on the outer petals are typical of parrot genetics, adding depth and structural contrast.

Successful management of Orange Favourite requires attention to light exposure. Because of the delicate, thin-walled nature of the ruffled petals, direct mid-day heat can lead to rapid transpiration and premature pigment fading. Ideal placement involves locations with partial shade, which protects the integrity of the flower structure and preserves its intense saturation throughout the late spring period.
