Tulip Albert Heijn

Engineering and Performance: The Albert Heijn Tulip

The Albert Heijn tulip belongs to the Triumph class, a category defined by the hybridization of early-flowering tulips with Darwin hybrids. This genetic combination results in a plant that balances early development with a robust, upright stem structure. From an agricultural standpoint, the Triumph class is valued for its uniformity and the mechanical strength of the floral stalk, making it a reliable choice for both greenhouse forcing and field cultivation.

Biological Structure and Practical Utility

• Growth Habit: The low-growing structure is a significant advantage in outdoor environments, as it offers enhanced resistance to lodging and physical stress from wind.
• Bud Architecture: The dense, cone-shaped bud is designed to maintain its structural integrity. It is less prone to sudden opening in response to solar radiation, which preserves the aesthetic value for a longer duration.
• Color Stability: The pink pigmentation is characterized by high photostability within the epidermis, preventing rapid color fading.

The primary advantage of Albert Heijn is its cultivation predictability. For growers, this means high synchronization in growth rates, allowing for uniform harvesting windows—a critical factor for industrial profitability. The cultivar displays an active root system that demands precision in irrigation; effective soil drainage is essential to avoid fungal issues at the bulb level. Its compact stature and predictable bloom timing make it an efficient asset in any professional floral production cycle.
