Chrysanthemum Smuglyava Krasunya

Selection Breakthrough: The Architecture of 'Smuhlyava Krasunya'

Developed by breeders at the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden, 'Smuhlyava Krasunya' is a high-tech specimen of the Multiflora chrysanthemum group. Its biological model is based on genetic adaptability to the Ukrainian climate, making this variety a gold standard for open-ground cultivation.

Technical Morphological Analysis

• Habit and Morphogenesis: The genetically determined spherical shape of the bush eliminates the need for plant growth regulators. Mid-sized parameters (30-60 cm) allow for high planting density without compromising light access to the lower layers of the plant.
• Inflorescence Parameters: The medium-flowered type (5-10 cm), combined with a two-tone color pattern (a harmonious blend of red and yellow pigments), ensures high decorative value even under adverse weather conditions in September.
• Biological Flowering Resource: The active flowering phase exceeds 40 days. This is achieved through an optimized metabolism that ensures sequential bud opening as temperatures drop during the autumn period.

Operational Characteristics

Frost resistance is the key protective node of this hybrid: the plant successfully undergoes dormancy, keeping its root system viable even during harsh Ukrainian winters. A significant operational advantage is its suitability for cut flowers—the rigidity of the stem and the density of the inflorescence ensure long-lasting commercial quality in a vase, making it a viable choice for commercial floriculture. The optimal architecture and high ornamental value of 'Smuhlyava Krasunya' make it one of the most effective tools for both landscape design and professional cut flower production.
