Maýtok Polýsskyj — this is a winter triticale variety distinguished by high cold and drought resistance, exceeding average values. It has an intermediate plant type with a stem height of 110–125 cm, not filled with parenchyma. The ear of this variety is stiff, white, spindle-shaped, up to 13 cm long, with 26–29 spikelets. The grain is large, elongated, pale pink, closer to wheat type, with a 1000-grain weight of 48–51 g. The vegetation period lasts 307–310 days. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the forest-steppe zone, and on typical Polissian soils, which are poorly suitable for winter wheat, under appropriate agronomic practices, it significantly exceeds wheat in grain yield, reaching up to 7.9 t/ha.
This variety has increased resistance to lodging, shattering, and diseases. Leaves, ears, and roots are practically unaffected by diseases, reducing the need for additional protection. To prevent damage by snow mold, seed treatment is recommended. Maýtok Polýsskyj also demonstrates weed competitiveness, allowing for limited agronomic weed control measures or half-rate herbicide applications.
According to research conducted at the National Research Center «Institute of Agronomy of UAAN», the Maýtok Polýsskyj variety belongs to the triticale category for bread-making purposes. It is characterized by high protein content (11.3–12.9%) and gluten (15.9–17.6%), as well as reduced starch content (66.3–68.1%). This makes it valuable for bread production. Thus, Maýtok Polýsskyj is a promising variety for farmers seeking high-yielding, resilient, and quality material for cultivation in forest-steppe and Polissia regions.
