Tomato YELLOW SUGAR

Genetic Architecture and Productivity

The "Sakhar Zheltiy" (Yellow Sugar) tomato by the Russian seed company "Sedek" is an indeterminate variety engineered for high-yield commercial and greenhouse cultivation. The core physiological feature is its unlimited growth habit, which necessitates vertical training (staking) and pruning to 1-2 stems. This architecture allows growers to maximize the vertical space in greenhouses, facilitating continuous fruit production throughout the growing season.

Fruit Morphology and Marketability

The breeding program for "Sakhar Zheltiy" focuses on a balance between visual appeal and mass. With fruits weighing over 200 grams, this variety is classified as a large-fruited type suitable for the premium fresh produce market. The fruit geometry varies between oblate and plum-shaped, influenced by pollination and greenhouse microclimate. The intense yellow pigmentation indicates high carotenoid content, enhancing both nutritional profile and consumer appeal.

Agrotechnical Potential

With a maturity period of 90-100 days, "Sakhar Zheltiy" is classified as a mid-early variety. This development dynamic allows for efficient scheduling of sequential harvests. The reported yield potential of 70-100 tons per hectare is achievable under intensive cultivation practices, including drip irrigation and potassium-heavy fertilization during the fruit-filling phase. Optimal results require stable thermal management, typical of professional greenhouse environments.
