Tomato Meteor

Stability and Compactness: Why «Meteor» Is a Top Choice for Open Fields

For growers who value predictability and compact growth, the determinate tomato variety «Meteor» remains a proven solution. Developed by experts at the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Production, this variety is engineered to produce a uniform yield even in short-season environments. Its main advantage lies in its balanced plant structure, which requires minimal maintenance and does not occupy excessive space in the garden.

Robust Health and Disease Resistance

What truly sets «Meteor» apart in the early-maturing tomato class is its resilient immune system. In conditions characterized by high humidity and temperature fluctuations, where many varieties succumb to infections, «Meteor» demonstrates strong resistance to late blight. This significantly reduces the need for heavy fungicide application. Furthermore, the variety shows excellent tolerance to early blight, making it an optimal choice for high-risk agricultural zones.

Harvest Specifications

• Maturation period: 100–120 days from emergence, fitting perfectly into a classic early-season schedule.
• Fruit profile: Plum-shaped, weighing 60–80 grams. Featuring 2-3 chambers and a firm skin, these tomatoes hold up well during transport.
• Usage: The compact size makes these fruits ideal for whole-fruit canning and pickling. They resist cracking in jars and maintain a high commercial appeal.

«Meteor» is a workhorse for those seeking a balance between ease of care and reliable results. It does not aim to break records for fruit size, but it excels in consistent yields and resistance to major nightshade diseases. It is an optimal choice for small farms and backyard gardens where high planting density and reliability are top priorities.
