Tomato RED METEOR

Stability and Compactness: A Selection Portrait

The "Krasny Meteor" (Red Meteor) tomato, developed by "Heterozisnaya Selektsiya," stands as a classic example of determinate varieties that have become a hallmark of domestic selection. Spearheaded by Anatoly Aliluev and Tatyana Steinert, the project focused on creating a crop highly adapted to climatic zones with short growing seasons. This variety requires minimal pruning and is perfectly suited for commercial farms that rely on consistent, predictable yields.

Agronomic Features

Under field conditions, "Krasny Meteor" demonstrates excellent uniformity. Its maturation period of 90–100 days classifies it as an early-ripening variety, allowing for harvests before the onset of widespread blight. The plum-shaped fruit, with an average weight of 60–80 grams, serves as a versatile raw material for food processing.

• Fruit Structure: A two-to-three-chambered internal design ensures high pulp density.
• Application: The variety is optimal for whole-fruit canning and pickling, as the skin is highly resistant to cracking during heat treatment.
• Growth Habit: The determinate growth type allows for open-field cultivation without the need for intensive trellising systems.

The reputation of this variety is built on its hardiness and low maintenance requirements. It is an ideal choice for growers seeking a balance between labor investment and final product quality. Thanks to the expertise of the originators at "Heterozisnaya Selektsiya," this variety has firmly established itself in the market as a reliable and accessible seed option for both large-scale production and private vegetable gardens.
