Tomato Fonarik

Technical Specifications: 'Fonarik' Tomato

The 'Fonarik' tomato is an indeterminate variety engineered for early-season production. Developed by the Federal Research Center for Vegetable Growing, this variety balances rapid physiological development with high market quality.

Agrotechnical Performance

As an indeterminate plant, 'Fonarik' requires rigorous pruning and vertical training to manage its continuous vegetative growth. The maturity window of 90–100 days post-germination classifies it as a high-performance early-ripening variety, ideal for greenhouse systems where rapid turnover is essential for commercial viability.

Fruit Morphology and Utility

• Weight Class: The fruit mass consistently ranges between 60g and 100g, an ideal size for retail packaging and efficient transit.
• Structural Form: The plant produces both heart-shaped and rounded fruit, providing flexibility for fresh-market sales and processing needs.
• Visual Diversity: The availability of pink, yellow, and orange variants offers a distinct competitive advantage for segmented market displays.

The primary advantage of 'Fonarik' lies in its adaptability. The genetic selection process focused on stabilizing the fruit set under protected cultivation conditions. For the grower, this results in a predictable, high-yield harvest with a uniform size profile that minimizes waste during the post-harvest grading process.
