Tomato Klondaik

A Strategy for Commercial Efficiency

The «Klondayk» tomato, developed by the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of NAAS, is an ideal choice for growers targeting the fresh produce market. This variety is designed for those who need a reliable, high-yield product that withstands transportation without losing its visual appeal or structural integrity.

Practical Implementation and Field Performance

This determinate variety simplifies field operations, requiring less maintenance compared to indeterminate types while delivering a substantial yield of 70-100 tons per hectare. With a ripening period of 100-120 days, it fits perfectly into a well-organized crop rotation schedule.

• Commercial Value: The flat-round, vibrant orange fruits (weighing 200g+) are highly sought after by retailers for their attractive appearance and consistent size.
• Post-Harvest Management: One of the key competitive advantages of this variety is its shelf life of over 30 days. This allows farmers to bypass the peak-harvest glut and sell their inventory when market prices are more favorable.
• Transportability: The variety's excellent durability ensures that fruits reach the consumer in perfect condition, significantly reducing waste during shipping to distant markets.

By opting for this NAAS variety, agricultural enterprises gain a cost-effective, regionally adapted crop that meets the rigorous demands of modern supply chains while maintaining high quality and marketability.
