Tomato Competition

Focus on Stability and Logistics

The "Competition" tomato from the Dutch breeding company Nunhems is the choice for growers targeting professional markets and extended product life cycles. Its primary advantages lie not just in yields, but in its ability to reach the retail shelf in pristine condition.

Agrotechnical Features

This hybrid is a cherry-type tomato with an individual fruit weight of up to 20 grams. Its round shape and vibrant red color make it highly attractive for retail packaging. For an agronomist, the key factor is its high level of resistance to pathogens. "Competition" exhibits excellent resistance to:

• Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV);
• Fusarium wilt (Fol);
• Various viral diseases that commonly affect solanaceous crops in protected environments.

These traits significantly reduce the need for intensive fungicide applications, helping to optimize the plant protection budget.

Practical Farm Application

The primary purpose of this variety is supply to supermarket chains and the HoReCa sector. Thanks to its firm skin and unique pulp structure, the fruits withstand long-distance transportation extremely well. One of the greatest strengths of "Competition" is its shelf life: it can be stored for more than 30 days without losing marketability. This provides logistics teams with operational flexibility, allowing them to manage sales cycles efficiently rather than being forced to lower prices during peak supply periods. Farmers often choose this hybrid for spring-summer cropping, where it is vital to harvest a product that retains its firmness and texture even a month after harvest.
