The Selection and Genetics Institute (Odesa) has provided farmers with a solution for regions where maturity speed is critical. "Tiligul" is an ultra-early sunflower hybrid that stands out from competitors due to its ability to avoid late summer droughts thanks to a short 90–100 day vegetation period.

Agrotechnical Advantages

Unlike many mid-season analogs, this hybrid does not require excessive expenditures on fungicide protection. Its high genetic resistance to complex rots (white and gray), as well as to phomopsis, phoma, and downy mildew, allows farmers to significantly reduce chemical input costs. This makes Tiligul an economically efficient choice for agricultural enterprises with limited budgets for crop protection products.

Characteristics and Yield

• Oil Content: High levels (45–50%) are consistently maintained even under unfavorable weather conditions.
• Morphology: A compact plant 140–150 cm tall with a medium, convex head is convenient for harvesting and requires less effort when shredding crop residues.
• Technology: Uniform ripening eliminates the need for desiccation if harvesting deadlines are met.

This hybrid is an optimal choice for farms practicing intensive crop rotations where early field clearance is vital. Tiligul shows its strength compared to tall-growing hybrids because it efficiently utilizes soil moisture during early development stages. However, it should be noted that yield potential requires maintaining the seeding density characteristic of early-maturing types to avoid competition for light and nutrients.
