Tregor sunflower is a mid-early hybrid with a maturity period of 109 to 113 days, allowing harvest at optimal times. This hybrid features high potential yields up to 60 c/ha, with actual yields reaching 45 c/ha, making it attractive for commercial cultivation. Plants reach a height of 160-170 cm, have large black seeds, and flower heads with a diameter of 200-230 mm. Tregor's root system is branched and of medium vigor, contributing to good nutrition and plant resilience. A key feature is the high oil content of the seeds — 51 to 53%, as well as protein content ranging from 16-18%, enhancing the crop's value for oil production.
The Tregor hybrid exhibits high resistance to the herbicide Euro Lightning, significantly simplifying agronomy and reducing protection costs. Application of this herbicide provides reliable protection against all weed species and 100% protection against parasitic plant Striga (Striga A-F), which is especially important for southern and eastern regions of Ukraine. Thanks to this, farmers can eliminate costly and less effective soil herbicides and reduce the number of field treatments, saving time and resources.
Tregor sunflower is well adapted to the climatic conditions of Ukraine, including dry steppe regions. The plant requires warmth for germination and growth, with an optimal temperature for development of 20-25 °C. Seeds germinate at temperatures from 3 to 5 °C, and seedlings withstand frosts down to 3 °C. During the early vegetative stage, the hybrid tolerates short-term drought, but later stages require adequate moisture for proper seed development. To achieve high yields, sunflower demands significant fertilizer doses, especially potassium, which must be considered when planning agronomy.
