Description Sharks
Sunflower variety Charks is an early-maturing hybrid developed by the French company Caussade Semences. The vegetation period of this variety ranges from 85 to 105 days, allowing for harvest within relatively short timeframes. Plants have a medium height of about 147 cm and are characterized by low stature, which contributes to resistance against lodging and facilitates crop management. The hybrid is adapted to various climatic conditions, making it suitable for cultivation in different regions, including various areas of Ukraine.

Charks stands out for its high yield, ranging from 38 to 50 centners per hectare, with oil content in seeds reaching 49–50%. This ensures high economic efficiency of cultivation. The hybrid exhibits good resistance to major sunflower diseases such as phomopsis, phomosis, sclerotinia, and rust, as well as to downy mildew, confirmed by resistance to 6–7 races of this pathogen. Additionally, the variety shows moderate drought tolerance, enabling successful cultivation under limited water conditions.

It is recommended to sow Charks sunflower at a stand density of 65–70 thousand plants per hectare in moist zones and 60–65 thousand in dry regions. This approach promotes optimal plant development and maximizes yield. The hybrid is suitable for conventional cultivation systems and is an excellent choice for farmers aiming to enhance crop productivity while minimizing herbicide and other chemical inputs.
