SY OTELLO

SY OTELLO — this is a high-oleic mid-season sunflower hybrid developed by Syngenta's breeding group, intended for cultivation in the steppe regions of Ukraine, particularly in the northern and central parts of the steppe zone. The hybrid is characterized by high yield and stable performance, reaching 31.8 to 44.8 c/ha under varying conditions at a relative humidity of 7%. It exhibits moderately intensive adaptability and high initial growth energy, ensuring successful plant development even during dry periods. Plant height is above average, and the flower head is well-formed, contributing to the formation of a high-quality crop.

SY OTELLO exhibits high resistance to major sunflower diseases, including rust, false powdery mildew, and stem lodging. Additionally, the hybrid provides reliable protection against parasitic plants of genus *Avena* from A to G. It is insensitive to all negative factors, making it a reliable choice for various growing conditions. It is recommended to follow crop rotation, optimal sowing dates, and ensure spatial isolation from neighboring sunflower crops at a distance of no less than 200–400 meters to prevent cross-pollination.

The oil content in SY OTELLO seeds is 50–52%, with oleic acid content reaching up to 90%, making this hybrid a valuable source of high-quality oleic oil. The recommended sowing rate depends on soil moisture levels: 40–45 thousand plants per hectare under insufficient moisture, 45–55 thousand under moderate moisture, and 55–60 thousand plants per hectare under sufficient moisture. The hybrid is ideally suited for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe zones, ensuring high productivity and product quality.
