Description SY Edison
The SY Edison hybrid sunflower is a mid-season linoleic-type variety developed by Syngenta for conventional cultivation. The vegetation period is 125-126 days, and plant height reaches 160-180 cm. This hybrid is characterized by high oil content in seeds — 52-54% — making it attractive for oil production. Due to its high-fiber leaves, the plant efficiently utilizes water and provides reliable protection for the head, contributing to stable yield formation.

SY Edison demonstrates high resistance to stress conditions, including drought and diseases. The hybrid has excellent tolerance to new strains of downy mildew (Peronospora) and resistance to diseases such as phomopsis and sclerotinia, confirmed by high resistance ratings — 9 out of 10. Due to these qualities, the hybrid is suitable for cultivation in various agroclimatic zones of Ukraine, including Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polesie.

SY Edison is recommended for intensive cultivation on fertile soils with optimal planting density: 50-55 thousand plants per hectare in zones with sufficient moisture and 40-45 thousand plants per hectare in areas with insufficient moisture. High pollen index contributes to stable yield and maximum productivity potential, reaching 10 points. Thus, SY Edison is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to achieve high-quality sunflower yields.
