Sunflower SX 5220 is a high-yielding hybrid of the oilseed type, characterized by high potential yield and adaptability to various climatic conditions. Plants reach an average height of about 160-165 cm, have an average head diameter of 15.8 to 22 cm, and an average thousand-seed weight of 64 to 75 g. Seeds are black, large, with high oil content reaching 48%, making this hybrid especially valuable for sunflower oil production.

The hybrid belongs to the early or mid-early maturity group, with a period from sowing to full maturity of about 102-105 days. It is resistant to several diseases, including rust, false powdery mildew, verticillium, phomopsis, phomosis, and sclerotinia affecting both heads and stems. Additionally, SX 5220 exhibits high tolerance to biotypes A-G of weed species and resistance to herbicide Euro-Lightning Plus due to Clearfield Plus technology, which facilitates weed control and enhances cultivation efficiency.

The hybrid demonstrates good plasticity and drought resistance, allowing successful cultivation in various regions, including Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissia. The recommended seeding rate varies depending on soil moisture: 45-50 thousand plants per hectare under insufficient moisture, and up to 55 thousand plants per hectare under adequate moisture. Due to its characteristics and resilience to adverse conditions, SX 5220 is a reliable choice for producers aiming for stable and high yields of oilseed sunflower.
