The Slavyanin sunflower variety is a mid-season hybrid with plant height ranging from 158 to 168 cm and flower diameter of 20-22 cm. It is characterized by high oil content, reaching 52-53%, which ensures significant oil content in the seeds. This variety is adapted for cultivation in various climatic zones, including Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissia, and exhibits resistance to diseases such as Phomopsis, rust A-G, Septoria, Verticillium, and Alternaria. Strong initial plant development contributes to good seedling establishment and high yield.
Slavyanin is one of the first high-oleic sunflower hybrids registered in Ukraine's Register since 2000. The high-oleic oil obtained from this variety's seeds exhibits enhanced resistance to oxidation, significantly extending its storage life and improving technological properties during production of products such as margarine. The oil's characteristics are similar to olive oil, making it popular in the European market. To preserve the unique properties of high-oleic sunflower, strict cultivation technology must be followed, including separate sowing and storage of seeds, and maintaining a distance of at least 200 meters from conventional varieties.
Slavyanin sunflower seeds are rich in beneficial substances, including fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins (A, B1-B9, E, K) and microelements (potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc). They are widely used in the food industry and oil production. Sunflower seeds are beneficial for cardiovascular health, immunity, and skin, hair, and nail health. However, during frying, seeds lose a significant portion of their beneficial substances, so it is preferable to consume them fresh. It is also important to note that sunflower may accumulate toxins from the soil, requiring product quality control.
