Sunflower Sicilia

Consistent Yields in Temperate Climates

Choosing the 'Sicily' sunflower hybrid from AF 'Ukrainske Nasinnya' is a strategic move toward predictable results. With a plant height of 150–160 cm, this hybrid develops a robust stalk that simplifies harvesting and minimizes field losses. Its 110–120 day maturity period integrates perfectly into standard crop rotation schedules, allowing timely preparation for winter crop planting.

Disease Resistance and Yield Potential

For growers operating in regions with high infection pressure, 'Sicily' offers strong resistance to a range of common pathogens. The hybrid effectively withstands Alternaria, rust, phomopsis, phoma, and powdery mildew. Notably, its resistance to downy mildew and the sunflower moth helps reduce dependency on heavy fungicide and insecticide applications throughout the growing season.

Economic Efficiency

The key driver of this hybrid's profitability is its oil content, ranging from 45% to 50%. For commercial producers, this translates into high market liquidity when selling to processors. Being a simple hybrid, 'Sicily' ensures uniform plant development and consistent performance across diverse field conditions. It is best suited for intensive farming practices on fertile soils, where the hybrid's genetic potential can be fully realized.
