Sunflower Sibson

Genetics by the Yuriev Institute: Reliability in the Field

The 'Sibson' sunflower is a testament to the extensive research conducted by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute (NAAS). This variety has cemented its position as a dependable choice for farmers who prioritize proven, locally-adapted genetics. Designed for the specific climatic conditions of Ukraine, Sibson is aimed at producers seeking consistent results and economic efficiency without the need for overly complex technological management.

Agronomic Profile and Crop Health

With a vegetation period of 100–110 days, Sibson fits into the mid-early maturity group, providing flexibility for harvest scheduling. The plants reach a height of 170–180 cm and produce large, uniform seed heads, which are hallmark traits for this line.

• Oil Content: A high oil content of 50–55% makes it a highly desirable commodity for processing facilities.
• Phytosanitary Resistance: The breeding focus heavily emphasizes resistance to downy mildew. Furthermore, the variety exhibits strong tolerance to common pathogens, including phomopsis, phoma, alternaria, and powdery mildew, which significantly reduces the pressure on fungicide applications.

Sibson is a strategic selection for those balancing adaptability to environmental stress with high yield quality. Its solid market reputation stems from its ease of cultivation and stable oil output per hectare, making it a reliable component in the crop rotation strategies of many agricultural enterprises across Ukraine.
