Sunflower Owell

Field Performance: RAGT Ovell Sunflower

When choosing the RAGT Ovell hybrid, farmers prioritize predictability. This French-bred simple hybrid is a reliable choice for those operating under the "Euro-Lightning" (Clearfield) system. One of the standout features operators appreciate is the high oil content, consistently ranging between 50-55%, which directly impacts the final profit margin at the elevator.

Agronomic Profile and Handling

The plants grow to a height of 170-180 cm. This uniform stature allows for standard combine harvester header settings, ensuring minimal losses during harvest. The semi-convex shape of the head makes the threshing process efficient, resulting in clean grain with minimal chaff.

• Vegetation Period: 110-120 days. This balanced maturity window allows for efficient planning of the harvest season.
• Disease Resistance: The hybrid shows excellent field immunity against Phoma, Phomopsis, Verticillium, and Downy Mildew. It also demonstrates strong tolerance against Sclerotinia and Powdery Mildew, even in challenging environmental conditions.
• Herbicide Tolerance: The compatibility with the Clearfield (Euro-Lightning) system allows for effective weed control and broomrape management, significantly simplifying field maintenance during the early growth stages.

Managing the Ovell crop requires no exotic agronomic practices. Its structural integrity is a major plus: the stalks are resistant to lodging, which prevents yield loss even when harvest is delayed due to weather. For the operator, this means less downtime and a smoother workflow during the critical harvest window.
